Sneaker Shopping

Ever since my dog ate my converse sneakers into sandals (I WISH I had taken a picture, but I was to mad at the time and I just threw them in the trash can in a fit of anger) I have been on the hunt to find a new pair of dark colored sneaks.

These are some I am possibly considering:

Marc Jacobs, 195

Coming Soon, $215

Converse, Drizzle/Silver Women's A S Specialty Ox Shoe, $47.50

Kawasaki, $65

Can I get a vote for which ones you guys like?

Polyvore Outfit

I recently joined Polyvore for a Target competition but I'm quickly becoming obsessed. This is actually a take on an outfit I wear during the fall when I want to feel like I'm dressed up aka wearing heels but not yelling LOOK I'M WEARING HEELS!

Hope you enjoy!

JESSICA ALBA ADDICTION

I'm becoming obsessed with Jessica Alba's style. I love how she dresses so easy, but still has a little funk in what she puts on.

(pictures taken from people.com)

The best part about her looks to me are her accessories, they really seem to make her outfit. Her clothing is basic, skinny pants, basic t shirt/tank and away she goes.

I don't know who her stylist is but she is defiantly someone I look to when trying to figure out what to wear.

BROOKLYN LIVIN'

Sorry its taken so long to post something new, I actually have been stepping out of my cave in NJ and doing fun things with my time!

I recently went to Brooklyn, Cobble Hill area to be shown the town on a beautiful rainy day. My work buddy and friend Maya, invited me and another friend to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, drink a cocktail at her new apartment, then get dinner at a french restaurant. I had such an awesome night and it felt soooo good to get out and play with friends.

We walked along the river and I saw some beautiful architecture on a few water front apartments, I got to look at Maya's cozy fun apartment/art studio, and ate mussels in white wine sauce while dipping french fries into mayo (Diet, OVER).

I was blown away and really inspired by Maya's apartment. She let me post some pictures to show you all.

First thing I have to show you is this chandelier Maya hung in the corner of her living room. It really inspired me to hang something just like it in my TV room. It had the most beautiful colors and with that and a few other lights on (beside the large overhead light) the apartment felt cozy and comfortable, like something you feel when reading a children's book.

Second is Maya's futon. I currently have a futon that I wasn't sure what to do with since I cant afford a couch right now. Maya inspired me to keep it colorful and add pillows in different colors, prints, and textures. Futons can be so boring and simple, if you keep it bright and eye engaging its not such an eye sore in the room.

Third is Maya's choice in color. She found this beautiful yellow gold chair sitting on the sidewalk near her home, the curtains pop with orange, the lamp was a greenish color and all look so beautiful on top of her dark wood floors. Nothing competed and everything in the room was eye catching and interesting to look at.

And lastly, Maya has her printing press smack dab in the center of her "other" living room. If that's not telling you "work on your passion" I don't know what is.

Thanks again Maya, I had the best time.

Love, Midge.

Breadman Caffe

I was coming back from a errand and was literally in the middle of no where New Jersey, nothing but warehouses and construction to be seen. All the sudden I look to my left and see the factory, Hudson Bread Company and attached is a little cafe called Breadman Caffe.

I went in and was so surprised! Its beautiful with big comfy couches, big chairs, tables, a TV, and what looks like great desserts. Walking up to the counter I was greeted by a very nice woman who showed me all of the wonderful pastries and breads they make next door. Not only do they sell bread, but they also make soup, salad, and sandwiches. Totally a great place to bring a girlfriend for some hangout time.

I chose an olive and asiago cheese focaccia and a cappuccino. The bread was fresh and tasty, the cappuccino was really well made and if I had time I so would have curled into one of the couches and pulled out the book I'm reading, The Help.

Minty Summer Lemonade

I spent the day in NYC recently, tooting around the lower east side and while there I popped into a little restaurant that I don't remember the name of. I ordered a salad to go and wanted a summertime drink to go with it, the waitress suggested I try their homemade mint lemonade. One sip and I was hooked. The refreshing taste of the lemonade paired with the crisp taste of the mint really aided in creating a great summer day.

Once home I decided to try and make my own lemonade, not knowing how many lemons it really took and how bad my hands would hurt the next week. Wow.

This is the recipe I used, from Martha Stewart.

After making a run back to Trader Joe's for more lemons and a run around the block to the bodega for sugar, I finally got to enjoy my homemade mint lemonade.

It lasted about a week and required more sugar for my taste. Still tart, but easy to swallow down a small glass full.
