The Cheese Store

Sometimes you just need a real sandwich.

Sometimes I just need real meat, real cheese, and real bread and when I mean real I mean homemade with meat that is fresh and cheese that has been aged. I know some may not understand cheese aging but if you have ever been to The Cheese Store in Hoboken, NJ you will understand. They have some of the best cheese and some of the best sandwiches I have ever tried. I found them for the first time while working on a film in the warehouse they are located in. I was hooked from them on and sometimes have to drive past the Lincoln tunnel into the unfamiliar, but exciting town of Hoboken.

To quote from their website: "Aging cheese is a complex endeavor
which requires particular conditions of temperature and humidity. It also requires the
care of craftsman's eye which recognizes the nuances that happen to an aging
cheese and a craftsman's hand which applies various techniques that allow the
cheese to develop its maximum flavor." http://thecheesestorehoboken.com/AgingFacilities.html

I love their sopressata salami sandwich with taleggio cheese, fire roasted peppers, extra virgin olive oil, arugula all on a baguette. The meat is thinly sliced, the cheese has a medium hard shell but is soft and buttery on the inside, the peppers are delicate with the olive oil and arugula and the bread...oh man the bread...its crunchy and soft all at the same time.

Now Im hungry, but no time to go to The Cheese Store.

Have a happy day!

Baking day

After I just posted about wanting to run and take care of myself I made banana pudding and raspberry cream cheese muffins yesterday....DOH!

Oh well, they were so great and the banana pudding really hit the spot. Its just light and fluffy enough that the hidden banana becomes a treasure to find and the Nilla cookies become soft and add a hint of vanilla to the mixture already. At first it was too sweet, but I let it sit over night and it seems to have calmed down a bit. Here it is in the fridge:

The muffins were good, but I don't think i would make them again.

The batter was almost better tasting then the final product! I guess some how over night they became stale, so this morning I toasted them and laid on a bit of butter. It seemed to soften right up and was perfect with a cup of tea.

I think I am going to take the muffins in to work tomorrow give them to everyone who has the early call, ouch. Ah well, its been 3 years now one would think I would be use to it by now.

Smoochies, Midge. xoxo

I went for a run with my puppy and we both did it for 30 mins. I stopped a few times, but I was sweating and was out of breath. He is knocked out asleep now...lucky him :) It felt really good, but I hope if I can keep up with it. I also hope that I will loose the pain in my chest when I run. That tends to hurt a lot.

Motivation

So after reading "small budget, big style" I got more motivated to become a "good girl" with my money. I want a great wardrobe, but I also want to work on lowering my credit card and my student loan. I need to take care of myself physically too. I need to get back to exercising and becoming more fit.

I have a bunch of goals, but sometimes I am not sure where to start, how to start, or I cant even get motivated. I know what I need to do and sometimes just the action is hard to do.

What keeps you motivated? Can you pass it along to me?

Belle at the Ball

The dress is finished and the wedding happened and all went smoothly! It moved beautifully when I shook my tail feather, it accentuated all the positives on my body I felt, and it was cool to say "I designed this!". Here is a happy pic at the wedding of me and my friends:

Thanks Katie and Jordan for having such a great wedding!

So onto new things at hand: Fortune cookies.

I find fortune cookies to be entertaining and kinda exciting after a great Chinese meal. Some of the best quotes I have gotten from a fortune cookie have stuck with me for years, like my high school year book quote: "Everything is beautiful, its just the way you look at it". I got this fortune when my artwork wasn't inspiring me anymore and this quote really excited me and helped me look at the objects I was drawing/painting in a different way. It inspired me to work on my art again.

This is a quote I recently received in one of those tasty orange scented crisp cookies:

Now this quote is funny because I was going through a maze, took myself out to eat and received this little gem. Life was all up and down, I didn't know what to make of it all and what to do with the confusion in my head. So when I got this quote I realized I needed to start taking care of me and my quality of life. I wrote a list of all the things I want to do this summer. First off: Life Coach. I know some people would call this a therapist, but I need someone to help me sort out my paths and something I have really been wanting in my life is to find my calling.

I feel like I am good a things, but I don't feel I have found anything in my life I can say I am great at or I kick ass in. I want to know what that is. I want to be self aware of the things I do, how I treat people, and allow myself to have quality time with myself. So I am starting with this life coach and I will see what happens.

Wish me luck (Hilary..haha)!
