Being a woman to me

Lately I have been trying to be more "womanly" and with that I have been trying to cook more and grow plants. I have no idea why those things mean "womanly" to me and I'm sure feminists are out to kill me now, but I use to watch my mother grow her roses and her chive garden, where she would literally pull the chives from the garden and eat them raw. I grew up with my Dad ALWAYS cooking our meals, and they were never just mac and cheese and hot dogs. It was teriyaki salmon with basmati rice and julienned vegetables one night, lamb with homemade mint sauce, whipped potatoes with carrots and chives inside, and asparagus with hollandaise sauce another night....i mean how could anyone try and loose weight after eating these great meals every week?

So with that I bought $1.00 plants from Target. Now I don't remember what plant I am actually growing, but its so cute to watch. I cant wait till I can put it in a real planter and see it all big and strong.

I love my kitchen windowsill. Its the light that pour in during the day...and the tiny empire state building sighting from it at night. I have my art boxes from Mexico, my other plants to grown, a bobbing head turtle and my two Hello Kitty dolls. DON'T JUDGE ME! LOL, I love Hello Kitty so much and don't know why. Its the cuteness factor I think. Here's a pic...

So cute!

I leave Wednesday for the black tie optional wedding aka Jordo and Katie's wedding, cant wait! It will be nice to take a break from everyday faces and have fun with some old school friends and rejoice in good ol' memories.

xoxo, Midge.

First Fitting!!!

So I have been for one fitting to Claudia on the dress. Its going well, but its not looking exactly how I want to yet. I want it a little more fun and young, but I really only tried on the top. The skirt is going to be full, but Claudia hadn't made it yet so she gave me an example. She put a tu tu on me!!! It was so cute, but it helped me get an idea of what it will look like for sure.

So Claudia took in places, snipped places and all together is trying to make me look goooood haha :)

Okay, so I have been REALLY bad at blogging (right now to my 1 fan, Hilary my sweet love). I haven't been lazy though, I promise! I actually have been working hard on this dress. I went and tried on the smock dress that Claudia made for me and it was cute (I shoulda taken a picture), but I don't want cute. This wedding is going to be a whose who of Cleveland and a semi high school reunion for me, so I wanna look GOOOOOOD. And I know all about "its how you feel on the inside", but I want to look fantastic on the outside too.

I have spent a few years now trying very hard to loose weight. I have gained some back and gotten a little soft around the edges, but I still try hard to keep in some sort of healthy lifestyle. I bought a "sucker-in", I refuse to call it a girdle so a "sucker-in" will work fine here. The shoe situation is a iffy thing, but I think when I was in Hilary's wedding we wore a shoe that would be perfect for this dress. Still totally undecided on jewelry, gold or silver?...gold or silver?

So Claudia had the smock dress made up. We snipped some areas, made some areas tighter, took down the chest v, and decided to do pleats around the skirt part. I am worried that it wont look good on me since I am a bigger girl, but I am holding out hope.
I then went shopping for the fabric. Earlier in the week I had been swatching and on the very last day I found my fabric. So i went out and bought it for $7.00 a yard and also bought matching tulle for $2.00 a yard. Pretty cheap compared to Mood Fabrics or B&H Fabrics (for those that don't know what that is, they are both the "premier" fabric stores in NYC. Mood was featured in Project Runway when it was on Bravo). I brought the fabric back to Claudia's studio and on Monday I get to see my dress! Yay!
